I’m not talking about your business’s logo, colors, font, or tagline, I’m talking about your brand. What is your brand personally? Yes, you have a brand, or shall we say you are a brand.
It certainly involves your look and how you want to present yourself but more than that it is what you are consistently saying, doing, and standing for. This can show in person but also in your social media and on-line presence.
People look to those who are experts in certain areas, who have “been there, done that” to guide them towards decisions and potentially purchases for certain things. They want the expertise and authenticity to help guide them in decisions not straight up branding.
Your confused now, right? I asked what your brand is, but just said people don’t want branding. When I say people don’t want branding, they don’t want a company to show a product straight up and tell you to buy it. They want to hear from someone who has purchased something and how or why it has worked well for that person. They want to see people wearing the clothes or see that demonstration from a beauty expert on which eye shadow works best. All of that is personal branding.
Influencers you have heard the term, but it doesn’t mean just the celebrities with half a million followers. It can be that regular person who has worked on their personal branding in their area of expertise to have 1,000 followers or 10,000 followers. People are curious about what they are saying and what they are doing.
So, what does this mean for you? If you have a passion or expertise, you can channel that into your personal branding. Show people what you do, talk to them about what you know or most importantly how you can help or guide them in your area. Do it consistently, work at it and you never know where it might take you. Key is to be authentic, be truthful and be helpful. People will respond to your brand if you do that. In the meantime, shine bright and much love!
