I say this with the understanding that there is drama in every workplace to a certain extent. However nowhere else could this week’s antics in the House of Representatives take place. I am not going to get political or take sides so don’t worry about that. Just looking at from the standpoint of an everyday worker or business owner, especially a small business owner.
These people have been “hired” by their constituents and have been bogged down in such petty bickering and antics they can’t even get work done. Now I did laugh at the social media pictures of the Democrat representatives bringing popcorn to the floor. At the same time, it made me sad and angry a bit in the fact that the institution has become so far removed from its purpose. They are quite frankly mocking the folks they represent.
How does popcorn mock people? It doesn’t but the fact that they are so absorbed in the power battle that exists in that building they aren’t even doing their job. Then acting like it’s funny they aren’t. Could you imagine in your job voting on who is going to be your next manager and bickering/negotiating with your coworkers so much that work stopped completely.
Oh wait, most people don’t get to vote for their manager. And if work stopped completely, they would get fired. They wouldn’t continue to get paid, have services provided to them and get the opportunity to promote themselves on tv.
Things right now are not ideal for a lot of regular people. Inflation is killing people’s paychecks; small business owners are making tough decisions to keep people employed. Folks are struggling to provide for their families. Yet the people who could actually do the work to help are playing games and wasting time. Nowhere else would this fly, if you tried it my guess is some of your bills wouldn’t get paid. I know mine wouldn’t. But they keep going and will probably call for a recess after this “hard work” of finding a speaker.
What’s my point, honestly, I am not entirely sure. It is frustrating to watch a group of elected officials be so self-absorbed they are throwing their privilege in front of the people who elected them. Knowing that nowhere else could a normal person get away with their antics without consequences, yet they will have none. We regular folks need to work our tails off just to make it, dealing with issues they could help with looming over us yet they mess around.
Best thing we can do I guess is let them know that we don’t appreciate them acting like they are in middle school trying to vote for a class president and act like they actually care about what happens in their home state to their employers. Remember they work for us, so let them know to GET BACK TO WORK!
Ok, I am done as always, I wish you Much Love and remind you to Shine Bright!
