An Irish Blessing

On this St. Patrick’s Day, I send to you an Irish Blessing. Now as most of you know there are MANY to pick from so if this isn’t your favorite, I hope your day lives out the one that is.

Here’s to a fellow who smiles

When life runs along like a song.

And here’s to the lad who can smile

When everything goes dead wrong.

May the Good Lord take a liking to you … but not too soon!

So, kids seem to have a power button that is endlessly charged, right? Maybe they have like 12 so that when one runs out the other kicks in. Teenagers and young adults still have a good charge on their power buttons it seems they just kick in at different times. You know, the way they can be up all night but sleep till noon, haha! Why is it though that as you get older your power button seems to run out fast or just totally hide from you?

I think part of the answer is we loose focus on what charges it for us. Kids have so much energy and seem to have their power button endlessly charged because they are so often involved with things they love. A teenager or young adult can have so much energy when we are falling asleep because they are hanging out with their friends and having a great time laughing and seeing the fun side of life.

So, after young adulthood? Why does that power button fade? Because we get so tied into being adults. We must be the responsible ones, we must pay the bills, we must pave the way for our families. True and big responsibilities that must be taken care of, but I have a secret. We are allowed to have fun.

We can carve out some time to charge up our power buttons. To laugh and carry on so that life doesn’t seem like a routine of endless tasks before you go to sleep and do it all over again. So, ask yourself what are you passionate about, what would really give you the charge you need? Find it, carve out time for it and LIVE IT! You deserve it, find your power button charge and SHINE BRIGHT! Much love~

Oh, the weather outside

Is it just me or has the weather been CRAZY! As I am writing this it is snowing hard outside for the second time in about a week. Same week or so that we have also had 70-degree weather with tornados and a mix of 50-degree weather. As I look at the weather outside though it makes me think.

It makes me think of times where a snow day such as today was met with cheers rather than groans. Where we looked at it as a chance to have such fun that is only reserved for this time of year. Sledding, snowball fights and building epic snow forts or igloos. Maybe even a chance to go skiing or snowboarding. Once you were done because you couldn’t feel your face anymore you got to come inside and enjoy a warm treat such as hot chocolate, what fun! Oh, the weather outside was simply awesome!

When do we lose that feeling? Is it because now we are the ones responsible for the shoveling and having to drive on the winter roads? Sure no one looks forward to that but isn’t that just part of what could be?

We have our responsibilities as adults sure, we must make sure everyone and everything is safe, warm and taken care of but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy. Take the time to sled with the kids, join in the snowball fight. Lend them your expertise to take their snow fort from good to EPIC! There are no rules that say just because you are over a certain age you can’t partake in some winter fun. So go enjoy for a short time, I guarantee those responsibilities will hold for a couple of hours. Shine Bright and Much Love!

Trick or Treat Time!

We all know that all the kiddos and fright fiends look forward to this time of year. They are ready to get loads of candy and scare up all the fright fun they can with movies and haunted houses. Maybe for you the years of trick or treat time are long gone and getting scared for fun is just not your thing.

Doesn’t mean you can’t carve out some holiday fun for you instead of carving that pumpkin. Do you enjoy giving out candy to kids, but you don’t have any kids in your neighborhood? Sign up for a community trunk or treat to pass out candy and see all the kid’s excitement.

Who says you must watch scary movies? You can stay home and enjoy a movie fest of your choosing with your favorite treats. Point is this coming weekend you can have fun and carve out some time for yourself even if it isn’t “typical” for this holiday. You deserve a break and holiday fun just as much as the trick or treat fan or fright fiend. So, see what it is that would make this weekend fun for you and go for it. Shine Bright and Much Love!
