Have you heard, “Failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.” It is packed full of potential meaning that can depend on which side of the equation that you are on.
If you are in an emergency, you don’t like that sentence, nope not at all. You know you need help and that is all that matters. Doesn’t matter if you could have planned better, asked for help earlier, or worked harder. Right now, stuff needs done, now.
If you are the one that is being sought out for help in the 11th hour, you love the sentence. Just because they are in dire need doesn’t mean you need to mess up your schedule to fix it, right?
Well yes and no, I’d say. If you are in a perpetual state of “emergency”, well then maybe you need to learn how to plan better. However, if someone is coming to you in a uncontrollable emergency well then you should jump in to help them.
I think what it boils down to is as a big picture, life planning type of thing you should always plan. Not only does it help you execute what you need to, it can put you in a position to help others if they are in that state of “emergency.” If we are there to help each other the world will shine brighter however don’t be that person who takes advantage of others time and kindness because you plan and execute things at the 11th hour. It gets old and people see the repetition, before you know it you will be out in the cold. Give yourself and others time to execute the tasks that you have been assigned and you will both shine bright. Much Love!
