We all know it, that big exhale that comes from the breath we didn’t even know we were holding. Whether it be from a big project completed, the conclusion of a tense situation or those results we were waiting for. We don’t even realize 100% that we are holding our breath nervously to see what is happening until we let out that big exhale.
It’s amazing the release that comes from it, the tense way we were holding our body, the anxiety or stress tend to melt away when we know we have finished the task, a situation ends, or we know how we did on that test. I always find it crazy that I get so tired after that big exhale, the task might not have been that physical, but the stress took its toll.
So, I am encouraging you to take it a step further than just that big exhale. Depending on the situation or task you just got through reward yourself. Whether that be a walk outside because it is nice, a coffee or other beverage of choice or just a few moments of mental downtime to center yourself again. You deserve a break and a reward for getting things done no matter how stressful.
Take some time, enjoy a little treat before you jump right back into the swing of things. Occasionally, you have to step back and polish up so the world can see how bright you shine!
