Ok speaking to all the small business owners out there especially those who are just starting out marketing their business on-line. The internet is a huge place we all know, and it is filled with all kinds of shiny things. DON’T GET SUCKED IN by the shiny things! They might not be right for your business.

Yes, we see the stories of what site is trending, what influencer strategy is racking up followers and which trends are just getting it done. It’s overwhelming and very easy to feel like all the sudden you are in a room of nothing, but shiny things and you left your sunglasses at home. Yikes!

So, what do you do? Where do you start? Start by not only defining who you are, what you do but who your customers are going to be. From there you can see where those customers spend their time on-line. Don’t try and bring them to you, you MUST meet them where they are at.

Just because another platform is much more of a shiny thing right now doesn’t mean it is the right thing for you. The true shine is in how productive a platform can be for you. If your target clients aren’t spending their time on that shiny platform, why do you need to spend time and effort there?

The next big thing to consider is time and effort it will take to have a good and productive presence where your customers are at. This is NOT creating a bunch of sales posts to push out, if you are thinking this please don’t. Even if you create them all quickly in Canva or some similar program it will NOT get you the results you will be looking for.

Take the time to see what potential clients are looking for with your product or service. Create your efforts on-line to not only tell them about yourself and your company’s mission but to help them. Nothing is more engaging than a company who seeks not only to “entertain” their clients on-line as they open the curtain to their business but if that same company is seeking to educate and help…GOLD!

So, your small business is getting ready to be on-line, define who you are and why you are doing it, find where your customers are at and meet them there and make it about them. Entertain, educate, and help them and the results will shine as bright as you. Much Love!

No, we are not getting into a deep discussion on the meaning of life and how you fit into it. At least not today, haha! Maybe next time, you will have to check back and see.

The thought for today in relationship to who are you is for marketing. You all know I love me some brand in terms of look and feel but let’s be honest old fashioned brand marketing is just that old fashioned. People don’t trust it anymore; they aren’t going to buy your gadget just because you are showing it to them.

So how are they going to buy it? By trusting you, your company and other customers who have bought and used that gadget. They want to know what you are about, your “why?”, what your company stands for and most importantly how other people feel about your gadget.

So don’t be afraid to embrace why you do what you do and share that with followers, potential followers, and potential customers. Share with them not only who you are but who your company is. If you have employees use them in your marketing, they are the best tool you have past customers.

Share your story TRUTHFULLY! Don’t tell people the truth you think they want; they will see right through it. Let your employees share their story. They should tell people what their job is in relationship to the gadget people will buy. Most importantly encourage and embrace customers honest stories with your products. Sure, we all know putting up a great testimonial is awesome but if someone shares feedback for improvement, thank them and use it for the bigger picture.

Who you are is important, why you are doing what you do is important, embrace it, own it and use it to your advantage to give customers what they want. Show off your gadget in real life, with real people and you will like the results. Shine Bright and Much Love!
