Summer is a wonderful time of sun and fun, but it can also be kind of crazy. To pack in all that fun and sun we often must escalate timeframes to get things done. Time for vacation means first you must finish up job tasks, plan out the vacation, remember what you must bring, use up any food that might spoil and on and on and on. There is one key thing I don’t want you to forget. Don’t forget that you can say no.
Say no to fun and sun, NO not what I am saying at all. The answer is always YES to more fun and sun! I am talking about that time leading up to your vacation or holiday break when someone tries to add just one more log to your load. That is when you don’t forget that you can say no.
Establishing boundaries is good for everyone involved in the short and long term. I am not saying there aren’t people out there who are just mean trying to get as much as they can out of you before you go on a vacation. Most, however, are knee deep in their own timelines and probably have just forgotten you are headed out of town. So don’t forget you can give them a polite reminder of when you are headed out and you will do your best to get something done either right before you leave or right when you get back. The answer is based on your workload not theirs.
So, remember those boundaries, don’t forget it’s ok to say no and as always Shine Bright!
Much Love,
